This week...

Reading- We will continue to study elements of fiction and literary non-fiction. Students will identify the problem, events, and solution of literary fiction. We will take what we’ve learned and write a summary. There will be an assessment on Friday in which students will need to read a text, locate the problem, events, and solution, and then write a summary.
Writing- This week we will be reviewing the grammar skills we have done thus far. Students will complete a grammar review, and we will have a grammar quiz on Friday. A few students will be finishing up their final drafts of their first papers. We will begin our second paper this week. Students may choose to write about a favorite place or someone important to them.
Math – Students will solve problems using addition and subtraction with and without estimation as well as use an appropriate plan to solve math in everyday situations. The Addition & Subtraction Study Guide is due on Thursday September 22nd and the test is on the 23rd.
Science – Students will continue to investigate animals including how they are classified and their adaptations that help them to survive.
Social StudiesStudents will begin to study the causes and effects European explorers had on the land and natives of Texas.
